Bookkeeping Client Onboarding Template
A bookkeeping client onboarding form for bookkeepers to collect contact details, business and accounting setup, transaction volume, and available access to share.
When to use it
- Before starting with a new bookkeeping client
- When moving a business to a new bookkeeping provider
- Before setting up monthly bookkeeping services
- When reviewing a client's software, payroll, and account setup
What it asks
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number
- Business name
- What is your entity type?
- Which accounting software do you use?
- How many business bank accounts do you have?
- Do you run payroll?
- About how many transactions does your business have each month?
- What are you able to share access to?
Why it should be encrypted
Contact details and information about a business's finances, payroll, and accounts can be sensitive. Only the client and the intended bookkeeping team should be able to read the answers.
Tips
- Ask clients to share access through their software's user-permission settings, never to send passwords.
- Add a question about the client's preferred start date or bookkeeping contact.
- Clarify whether transaction counts are estimates and what timeframe clients should use.
